Welcome

Thank you for subscribing to the Storytime Standouts newsletter.  In this edition, I am happy to introduce four brand new picture books and three ‘champion’ chapter books.  In future issues, I will highlight more books and add parent /teacher resources.

In addition to the book reviews, I have prepared three printables for your use...

·         an Easter crossword puzzle,

·         a St. Patrick’s Day word search, and

·         Spring sight words

The Spring sight words can be used in a variety of ways.  Some children enjoy putting words together using letter tiles or magnetic letters.  Alternatively, they may like to copy words onto a white board or using pencil and paper.  Older children may enjoy creating stories using these words. Alternatively, you can print out two sets of words and create a memory game or print one set of words, separate the pictures from the words and make a matching game.

Cornelius P. Mud, Are You Ready for Bed?

Written by and illustrated by Barney Saltzberg
Published by Candlewick Press
Hardcover, Ages 2-5

It is time to put toys away, brush teeth, enjoy a story and head off to bed.  For Cornelius P. Mud however, these steps toward bedtime aren’t quite what moms and dads envision.  Big, bold illustrations help to tell a story that is perfect for circle time or bedtime.
