My husband is currently reading The Hunger Games (I think he is hoping to see the movie sometime soon). He and my fourteen year old son (who has read it twice) are constantly talking about it, exchanging observations and “making connections.”

The same son recently read The Chrysalids for Grade Nine English. I had only vague recollections of the book so I borrowed a copy from the library and have reread it alongside him. As he thinks about plot and theme, he’s been about to bounce ideas off me and we have exchanged ideas and opinions, sometimes finding common ground and occasionally hotly debating ideas. I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to revisit a classic and strengthen my relationship with my youngest son.
